Looking for a Powder alternative?

Powder.gg shut down in mid-2026. Here's an honest look at what former Powder users can switch to, what each tool costs, and where each one falls short.

What happened to Powder?

Powder was a free-to-start AI clipping app for gamers and streamers. It ran locally on Windows, supported 40+ games, detected Twitch chat spikes, and built automatic montages. Around July 2026 Powder shut down and subscriptions were cancelled. Visiting powder.gg now redirects to the team's farewell note.

Powder alternative FAQ

Did Powder shut down?

Yes. Powder (powder.gg), the AI gaming clip tool, shut down around July 2026 and subscriptions were cancelled. Today powder.gg redirects to the team's farewell note.

What is the best Powder alternative?

It depends on what you used Powder for. For streamer-focused clipping from Twitch or Kick VODs with layouts and scheduling, StreamLadder and Eklipse are the closest active options. For generic long-video clipping, Opus Clip works but uses credits. For in-game auto-clipping on your PC, Medal is the closest to Powder's local capture.

Is there a free Powder alternative?

Twitch Auto Clips is free but still an invite-only alpha and Twitch-only. Medal and StreamLadder have free tiers, Opus Clip has a watermarked free plan, and Eklipse's free tier only previews clips.
